Entry Level Drafter/Designer

Overview:

We are currently hiring Entry Level Drafters/Designers for long term, multi year contracts with our client Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) in Newport News, VA.

 

Description:

  • This position will support design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions.
  • The candidate will convert 3D models into the Siemens NX application including setting up construction views. All trade disciplines will be involved in this effort.
  • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as AutoCAD, NX, and Inventor.
  • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
  • Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. 

Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Associate’s Degree and 0 years of experience. (2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate’s degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate’s degree.)
  • Siemens NX and/or Inventor modeling experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing/installation drawing creation.
  • Trade experience using 3D work instructions in areas such as: Structure, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, Ventilation, Sheetmetal.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Pay Rate: $22-$30/hr based on experience.
