Engineer II - UxV (1173)
AI Signal Research, Inc. (ASRI) is recruiting for the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) contract in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division's non-explosive open air and indoor test, evaluation, and experimentation for the Test and Evaluation Division (E40) within the Gun and Electric Weapons Department.
Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Management or Technology is preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
Months/Years of Experience: Three (3) years' experience dealing with the concept design and engineering, and test and evaluation of weapon systems components, subsystems, and systems.
Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance. Applicant must have availability to perform regular national travel to remote locations. Ability to travel regularly. Averaging up to 1 week of travel per quarter. Must have proficiency in basic electrical theory and circuitry. Must be a team player and be able and willing to learn and adapt to changing workload and technologies. Ability to adapt and learn new skills. Applicant should have basic understanding or experience with Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV’s) and other remotely controlled systems. Training will be provided to supplement experience level. Applicant should have a posture of safety and be able to demonstrate responsible decision-making skills.
Desired Qualifications: Engineering design, testing, iteration, and evaluation experience is preferred. Familiarity with weapon systems and subsystems is preferred. Excellent written and verbal skills to produce and present information, technologies and complex systems to stakeholders is preferred or experience in autonomy, robotics, weapons systems, UxVs, prototyping and military tactics. Desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Self-motivated. Mission oriented. Navy and/or Marine Corps related experience is preferred.
Skills Needed:
1. Knowledge of UxV Hardware integration and fabrication
2. Experience/Knowledge with Mission Planner/QGround Control or willing to learn.
3. Experience/Knowledge with flying Commercial of the Shelf (COTs) UAS platforms or willing to learn.
4. Experience/Knowledge with developing flight plans, test procedures, and operational documentation.
5. Experience/Knowledge with writing and presenting test plans, safety documents, and other test execution information
5. Able to conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure system readiness and safety
6. Able to follow detailed procedures and checklists
7. Maintain UAV logs and perform maintenance as required.
8. Ability to identify necessary tasks and independently complete them
9. Basic electronics, digital, AC and DC knowledge
10. Written and verbal proficiency
11. Engineering Test & Evaluation experience
12. Familiarity with DoD or Navy procedures and regulations, policies, and procedures
13. Coordinating projects
14. Compiling statistics and data for projects
15. Managing the execution of inspection and maintenance programs, tracking system management
16. Creating, monitoring, and maintaining audit files for program compliance
17. Developing and leading process improvements, developing recommendations and procedures for improving efficiency
Duties: Provide support for PRTR UxV range operations. Support offsite and remote testing that requires frequent national travel. Support mission and Special Projects at Dahlgren location. Work closely with the Range Test Engineering Team to maintain test program documentation and records. Prepare and present data, reports and test results.
