Graphic Designer in Union Marketing

This is the perfect job for students looking to go into the graphic design field. Candidates must have a beginner/intermediate experience in Adobe Creative suite and a basic understanding of design concepts and principles. In this position, employees will create original artwork in collaboration with other students and professional staff. Gain practical experience working in an agency setting while developing real world skills.

Work in Union Marketing

Our office is located in Student Union (WG50) and we are looking for creative students to join our team. Enjoy our great work environment and grow through mentorship from professionals and other students. This is a great place to learn the ropes and prepare yourself for a career as a Graphic Designer. 

During your time here you will develop your design skills with guidance from professional designers. You will learn how to manage clients, work with a team (including other disciplines), general office skills, and how to work in an agency style environment.   

Job Requirements

  • Ability to read and follow directions, work under deadlines, and manage time effectively.
  • Able to work independently. 
  • Good communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Knowledge of basic layout skills, design principles, typography and illustration.
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Teams, Word and Outlook). 
  • Research, design, and produce a wide variety of print and digital materials for our clients at UWM. 
  • Create materials that adhere to design guidelines and standards.
  • Construct and install posters, banners, and other physical installations. 

Obligations and Expectations

Work hours are a minimum of 10 and maximum of 25 hours per week. You will create a schedule with your supervisor that will fit around your school schedules and needs. You will be expected to be on time, manage your workload, communicate with clients & coworkers, and use our content management system.
