Project Engineer

Project Engineer (Entry-Level to Experienced)

With over 40 years in Hawaii’s construction industry, Civil-Mechanical Contractor is a locally owned general engineering and building construction firm specializing in mechanical projects for municipal, county, state, and federal agencies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our team. This role is open to:

  • Recent graduates or current college students (entry-level)
  • Candidates with 3–9+ years of construction/project engineering experience

You will support project execution from planning through completion while developing technical, organizational, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to ensure project compliance
  • Support project scheduling, including labor and material coordination
  • Assist in managing project documentation, including:
    • RFIs (Requests for Information)
    • Change orders
    • Force account work
    • Shop drawings and as-built drawings
  • Help track project costs, budgets, and estimates in real time
  • Coordinate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
  • Contribute to project planning and scheduling efforts
  • Maintain clear and professional written and verbal communication
  • Promote a team-oriented, collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrate accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail to support safe and efficient project delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or currently pursuing)
  • Strong interest in construction and project management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and accept mentorship
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: Starting at $65,000, with higher compensation available based on experience.
