About

Founded in 2014 by Artistic Director Pranita Nayar, Mandala South Asian Performing Arts is a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to presenting South Asian dance, music, and theater while reimagining traditional art forms in contemporary contexts. Mandala has been recognized with a MacArthur Foundation Award for International Exchange (2018), a National Endowment for the Arts Grant (2021), and a Joyce Foundation Award (2023).

 

Mandala’s work centers cultural preservation, artistic innovation, and social awareness—fostering cross-cultural dialogue and community engagement across the Chicagoland area. Through performance, education, and public programming, we make South Asian and diasporic art forms accessible, relevant, and responsive to today’s world.

 

Role Overview

Mandala is seeking a highly motivated intern to support the development of its Corporate Arts Workshops, which use South Asian visual and performing arts to build professional skills such as communication, collaboration, leadership presence, and emotional awareness.

You’ll work closely with leadership to support outreach, research, program coordination, and communications.

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential partner organizations and key stakeholders
  • Support outreach efforts via email and LinkedIn with tailored messaging
  • Track outreach, responses, and follow-ups to support business development
  • Assist with scheduling, coordination, and logistics for meetings and workshops
  • Help prepare outreach materials, presentations, and program documents
  • Document workshops, including notes, feedback, and basic reporting

 

Qualifications

  • Sophomore, Junior, or senior currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Interest in arts, culture, business, consulting, or nonprofit work
  • Experience with research, spreadsheets, and basic project tracking
