Process Engineering Intern
Summary of Position
Imbibe is looking for a dynamic Process Engineering Intern to join and provide support to our team of engineers and beverage scientists. This role involves optimizing existing beverage processes in our pilot plant, researching innovative processing technologies, and supporting the commercialization of new products from benchtop experiments to full-scale production. The engineering intern will spend significant time in our pilot plant, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of beverage production technologies across many beverage formats including low-acid protein shakes, carbonated soft drinks, and powdered beverages. Ideal candidates are highly motivated self-starters who excel in both theoretical and practical environments, enjoy getting hands-on in the pilot plant, and are eager to learn and innovate.
Essential Job Duties
· Integrate new equipment and develop SOPs for the latest Imbibe pilot plant capabilities
· Support successful pilot plant runs focusing on all unit operations from batching through thermal processing and filling
· Develop expertise in a wide range of beverage processing technologies and ensure best practices are incorporated in pilot plant production runs
· Work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
· At times will need to bend and kneel on the floor
· At times will carry, move, or push objects weighing 50lbs+
· At times will work at elevated heights
· Ability to observe details at close range
· Constantly moves about the pilot plant, labs, and office buildings
· Work 40 hours/week
Minimum Qualifications
· Will be a Junior or Senior in Fall 2026, studying Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related field
· Detail-oriented team player willing to do what it takes to support the development and launch of new products on tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
· Curious critical thinker with excellent communication and time management skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at an intermediate level
· Experience in a chemistry lab
· Skilled in research, experiment design, data analysis, and technical writing
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food and beverage industry
· Has had an internship and/or co-op before, preferably within the food and beverage industry
· Familiarity with following and/or writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Working Conditions
· Will be present in plant that may be cold (40°F), hot (90°F), and have wet and/or slippery floors
· Exposure to intermittent loud noise
· May work with hazardous chemicals
· Plant equipment can be dangerous to touch due to rotary, electrical, or temperature danger
· Exposure to food and beverage product tastings which may include allergens
