As a Writing Center Student Administrative Assistant, you will:

●    Provide support, reception, and communications assistance at our friendly UCI Writing Center in both face-to-face and remote modes.

●    Check students in to appointments, answer emails, texts, and phone calls, and help students access CEWC services.

●    Work part-time (~5-10 hours/week, Weeks 1-10 Fall, Winter, and Spring); available as work-study or non work-study.

●    Develop and/or provide support in logistical and outreach projects at the request of the Associate Director and/or Administrative Coordinator.

●    Arrange your OWN team schedule to accommodate all of your class times.

Title: Writing Center Student Administrative Assistant

Position Type: Part Time, Work Study or Non-Work Study

Duration: 2026-2027 academic year, quarterly re-appointment

 

Qualifications: Experience in an online work setting is helpful. We also seek students who are organized, comfortable working on Google, Zoom, and Outlook, creative, self-motivated, and customer-service oriented.

 

Job Description: Each student will work 5-10 hours/week, 10 weeks/quarter FA/WI/SP.

Shifts will occur from 10 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday (from the Center’s opening to its close).

Writing Center Student Administrative Assistants provide general unit assistance. This includes but is not limited to: serving as the first point of contact for the Writing Center, answering email, occasional phone, scheduling appointments online, explaining services to students via text, email and phone, organizing email on Outlook, maintaining posted notices on our website, assisting with logistical and outreach projects at the Director’s request, and assisting with online event coordination.

 

Salary Level: $16.50/hour

Positions begin the week of September 28, 2026 (Week 1, Fall Quarter).

There will be a two-hour, paid training session prior to that (likely an afternoon/evening during Zero Week (Sept. 21-25).

Each quarter, Administrative Assistants will coordinate work schedules to accommodate their classes.
