Closet Operations Manager at The Foster Network
Position Summary
The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day functions of The Closet, the centerpiece program of The Foster Network. This role provides direct leadership in ensuring sustainable operations through inventory and donation management, volunteer and staff coordination, and family visit coordination. The Operations Manager fosters a welcoming, dignified environment where children and families feel valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control and Donation Processing
- Plan and implement efficient and sustainable systems to meet operational needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained throughout all operations.
Volunteer Leadership and Engagement
- Develop volunteer schedules and coordinate assignments to ensure sustainable operations.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and recognition to volunteers and staff to build and maintain engagement.
- Foster a positive and mission-centered environment.
- Provide training and guidance to all volunteers, ensuring clarity in roles and expectations.
Administrative and Reporting
- Provide consistent communication of program performance to organizational leadership.
- Establish and maintain accurate tracking of applicable data and processes.
- Collaborate and communicate with other staff and organizational leadership as necessary to support other program initiatives and objectives.
Family and Community Support
- Ensure a welcoming, dignified, and safe environment for families and guests.
- Coordinate with Family Support staff to provide excellent service to families and guests.
- Facilitate coordination with partner agencies to meet the needs of families and guests, either directly or in collaboration with Family Support staff.
Other Duties
- May be responsible for other duties as assigned or designated by the Executive Director or delegate.
Qualifications
- Adherence to the Core Values of The Foster Network.
- Demonstrated understanding of volunteer coordination and program management (Required | Experience preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of retail/warehouse operations (Required | Experience preferred)
- Must be able to pass a background check and be in good standing with the Department of Child Protective Services.

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competence with basic computer programs (Google Workspace, MS Office, etc.) for communication, data entry, and inventory management.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move objects (up to 25 lbs)
