Radiology Imaging Coordinator
Location: Salinas, CA
Shift: Days, Five 8 hours shift
Duration: 13 weeks
Hours: 40 hours/week
We are seeking a detail-oriented Radiology / Diagnostic Imaging Coordinator to support a fast-paced imaging department. This role is responsible for coordinating multi-modality imaging procedures, managing patient registration and documentation, and ensuring smooth workflow between patients, physicians, and radiology staff.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in radiology scheduling, insurance authorization, and EMR systems (Epic preferred), along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
๐ง Key Responsibilities
๐ Scheduling & Coordination
- Schedule imaging procedures across multiple modalities: CT, MRI, PET/CT, Ultrasound, X-ray, Mammography, and Angiography
- Coordinate with physician offices to obtain orders, authorizations, CPT/ICD codes, and required documentation
- Verify medical necessity, especially for Medicare patients
๐งพ Patient Registration & Intake
- Pre-register and register patients by collecting demographic, insurance, and financial information
- Obtain required signatures, consent forms, and identification documentation
- Provide patients with preparation instructions for imaging procedures
๐ฅ๏ธ Systems & Documentation
- Enter and manage patient data in Epic, Meditech, and PACS systems
- Prepare charts and documentation for interventional procedures
- Scan and upload physician orders and maintain accurate records
- Print/burn CDs of imaging studies as needed
๐ฅ Patient Support
- Assist with patient transport (wheelchair/stretcher) and movement as needed
- Support technologists and radiology staff with patient flow
๐ Communication & Coordination
- Answer and direct incoming calls professionally
- Coordinate with radiologists, nurses, anesthesia, and scheduling teams
- Assist physicians with accessing imaging studies in PACS
๐ Compliance & Administrative Duties
- Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines, including medical necessity, secondary payer rules, and the 3-day rule
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, documentation tracking, and handling legal/subpoena records
โ Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2โ4 years of recent radiology/imaging scheduling experience across multiple modalities
- Recent Epic experience (within the last 6โ12 months)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Insurance verification & prior authorizations
- CPT and ICD coding
- Medical terminology
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
