Captain's Closet Student Manager
Every student deserves to walk into an interview or networking event feeling confident. As the Captain's Closet Student Manager, you will help make that possible. This role offers real management experience, transferable career skills, and a front-row seat to the meaningful work happening in Career Planning and Development.
What you'll do
- Inventory & data management: Track clothing stock, sizes, and styles using Microsoft Excel; maintain accurate records of donations and distributions.
- Sorting & quality control: Organize incoming donations, evaluate items for condition, and ensure the closet stays clean, accessible, and professionally presented.
- Donation operations: Process, bag, or responsibly dispose of items that don't meet standards.
- Community outreach & events: Partner with professional staff to plan events and campaigns that raise awareness of Captain's Closet services across campus.
- Data-driven improvements: Monitor the closet's feedback form and use responses to inform inventory and organizational decisions.
- Front desk support: Greet visitors, answer phones, schedule appointments, and connect students with resources as needed.

About Captain's Closet
Career Planning and Development provides gently used and new business casual and business professional attire to UT Martin students at no cost. The closet is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Student Manager works flexible hours within that window.
