- Create and implement goal-based recreation programs for people with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.

YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT
- Plan, adapt, supervise, and evaluate countywide, community-based recreation therapy programs for people of all ages with and without disabilities.
- Implement and lead adapted recreation programs on-site and in the community, including social and skill-building programs, fitness, wellness, adapted sports training, and tournaments.
- Coordinate programs instructed by contractual staff and volunteers.
- Assess recreational needs; research trends; create and distribute promotional materials.
- Provide participant transportation for programs.
- Meet with participants, parents, and organizations to share information, further public relations, promote, and formulate new programs.
- Maintain attendance records, program statistics, order, track, and secure equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Health and Physical Education, or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities,
OR
- An unrelated Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of two (2) years of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities,
OR
- An Associate’s Degree in Recreation, Health and Physical Education, or related field; minimum of three (3) years of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities,
OR
- An unrelated Associate’s Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities,
OR
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of five (5) years of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities.
Qualified candidates must obtain Infant, Child and Adult First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Six (6) months of experience working with people with intellectual or physical disabilities,
- Experience planning, adapting, and implementing recreation programs for people with intellectual or physical disabilities,
- Experience assessing and evaluating recreational needs for people with disabilities,
- Experience writing program goals and objectives, evaluating outcomes,
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a Therapeutic Recreation Undergraduate certificate, and
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, CTRS (copy of Certification must be uploaded to online application by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date)
