Certified Medical Assistant

NEIGHBORHOOD FAMILY CLINICS 

is looking for a  Certified Medical Assistant for our
La Crosse, West Salem and Onalaska clinics.

We are looking for a CMA to be part of the healthcare team, and work within the Medical Assistant Scope of Practice and under the direction of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. The CMA will assist in meeting the individual and age-specific needs of patients and families.

 Personal qualifications include being dependable, compassionate, professional, able to work well with members of the health care team/patients/families and provide safe direct patient care.  

Physical requirements:  ability to be on their feet and moving around for most of the day, assisting patients as needed, reaching and lifting as needed. 

CMA should have successfully completed an accredited training program, and have excellent communication (oral and written) and multi-tasking skills. Highly desired to be proficient in medical terminology, computer skills/typing, and navigation/charting in the electronic health record.

Job specifics: All work is in-person in a clinic setting.  Shifts are typically noon-1p.m. to 6p.m. Monday-Friday. Rotating some Saturdays between 7am-1pm. (Saturday bonus pay-after 90 day probation). 

Part-time option:  18-30 hours per week.  Starting pay based on experience.

Full-time option: 32-40 hours per week.  Starting pay based on experience. (if this is what you are seeking, we have additional earlier start times available).

Job responsibilities include rooming patients, measuring vital signs, performing EKG, spirometry, venipuncture, handling and processing labs, injections, and completing other on-site tests including rapid strep, monospot, TB, h pylori, troponin, urinalysis, pregnancy tests and audiograms.

The CMA will also assist the Doctor, PA, or NP provider as needed with procedures. In addition, the CMA will have the opportunity to educate patients on a variety of topics such as home glucometer testing and nebulizer treatments, and complete patient follow-up phone calls.

The CMA will also complete administrative tasks such as billing, scheduling appointments, checking patients in, scanning documents, medical prior authorizations, organizing supplies, contacting pharmacies and faxing prescriptions, and assisting with dictation of provider notes.

  • Afternoon shift (12 or 1-6p.m.)
  • Monday to Friday (bonus for Friday afternoon shifts*-after 90 days)
  • Rotating Saturday shifts (6:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) (bonus pay for Saturday shifts-after 90 days)
