Social Work Field Assistant – Flexible 2nd Shift
Entech Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Shift Monitor to support an Emergency Shelter Program located in Pontiac, MI. This is a unique, flexible role perfect for students home for the summer or individuals looking for a consistent schedule with the opportunity for additional hours.
Shift Details & Flexibility
Core Schedule: Sundays and Mondays (6:00 PM – 2:00 AM).
Additional Hours: This role serves as a "fill-in" for vacations and call-offs.
Total Weekly Hours: Approved for 24–30 hours per week.
Flexibility: We understand life happens! If you have school commitments or other obligations, the supervisor is very willing to work with your schedule regarding start times and specific shift needs.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Security: Provide building coverage by monitoring grounds, walking the premises, and checking surveillance equipment to ensure guest safety.
Guest Relations: Build rapport with residents sheltering in motels; assist with conflict resolution and respond to crisis situations as they arise.
Front Desk Support: Answer phones, perform light clerical work, and greet/screen residents, visitors, and volunteers.
Logistics: Assist with delivering meals and essential items to guests (requires the ability to perform heavy lifting).
Documentation: Perform weekly unit inspections and maintain thorough records in systems such as HMIS, Link2Feed, and daily call logs.
Team Collaboration: Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and assist with guest move-ins and exits.
Requirements
Reliability: Ability to consistently work the Sunday/Monday 2nd shift block.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to de-escalate conflicts and support residents in a sensitive environment.
Physical Ability: Must be comfortable with walking the grounds and performing heavy lifting for meal/supply deliveries.
Tech Savvy: Basic data entry skills for tracking services and maintaining digital logs.
Empathy: A commitment to providing high-quality service to individuals in emergency shelter situations.
