Extension STEM Community Engagement Intern - Carbon County
Make a difference in the lives of young people through hands-on learning and leadership development. This internship supports 4-H and youth programs that help youth build life skills, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging while exploring a wide-variety of interests. Interns will gain meaningful, real-world experience delivering programs, mentoring youth, and engaging with communities.
You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that values creativity, positive youth development, and community connection. This role offers a mix of in-person programming and planning, with opportunities for flexible scheduling depending on program needs. Responsibilities
- Promote local participation in monthly STEM challenges by 4-H state office through local facilitation (30 expected youth engagement)
- Develop STEM Summer Camp day camp with IE and other community partners (120 expected youth engagement)
- Partner with Southeast Education Service Center to host on-site makers club for the summer (60 expected youth engagement)
- Work with faculty to develop a STEM make-and-take project for the Carbon County Fair's Kid Day event (250 expected youth engagement)
- Work with faculty mentor on developing a circuitry/electrical engineering Discover 4-H curriculum
Qualifications
- Be an undergraduate student
- Have an interest in the Extension program
- Be dependable
- Prior experience in STEM subjects
