Job Description: Lafayette College’s Communications Division is looking for a student writer to generate content to be shared on the Today.lafayette.edu site and in Lafayette Today.
Qualifications:
- Ability to gather information and write short news stories previewing or capturing campus events.
- Ability to interview faculty/staff/students and write short stories that highlight the accomplishments of members of the campus community.
- Ability to talk with staff and faculty to find tips for the campus community to keep them informed and aware.
- Looking for a motivated, energetic student who is reliable, deadline-oriented, and is comfortable interviewing faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to take photos and/or videos is a plus.
This is an opportunity to gain writing samples and learn from professionals with backgrounds in journalism, communications, and marketing.
Hours per week: Dependent on assignments
Required work schedule: No required hours, however, student(s) must be willing to attend College events as needed.
Compensation: $9.50/hour
Location: On-campus. Some of the job may need to be done on campus (ie. attending in-person events, taking photos, etc.) but some of the job can be done remotely (ie attending virtual events, interviewing students/profs over Zoom, writing content).
