About this Position
The Customer Service Representative I is a full-time phone representative that is responsible for collecting utility payments, starting new services for residential/commercial accounts, and providing information to callers.
Utility Customer Service (UCS) employees also function as first responders during emergencies such as inclement weather events. When emergencies arise, UCS employees are required to work normal working hours to assist UCS in meeting operational needs. Should an emergency arise or continue after normal working hours, UCS employees may be asked to provide their services on a voluntary basis until the emergency is resolved.
Qualifications
- High school degree or GED equivalent
- 12–18 months of related training and or experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Call center experience (preferred)
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with data entry
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls from customers
- Help customers troubleshoot account issues
- Work with customers entering service requests, including on/off orders, transfers, and re-reads
- Provide information regarding billing, account balances, service rates, etc.
- Perform billing and quoting tasks for cash and non-cash deposits
- Collaborate with field representatives to coordinate service requests
- Utilize computer systems to enter data for every call
- Work during off-hours on a voluntary basis during emergencies (occasionally and upon request)

- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain composure while displaying patience and friendliness
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
