Client Intake Specialist

Job Title: Client Intake Specialist (Remote – U.S.)
Employer: Klein & Sheridan, LC – Consumer Protection Law Firm
Website: www.kleinsheridan.com

About Klein & Sheridan, LC
Klein & Sheridan, LC is a small, mission-driven consumer protection law firm. We represent individuals in disputes with big financial institutions—like credit reporting agencies, mortgage companies, and debt collectors. Our cases often involve unfair or abusive practices that impact people’s credit, homes, and financial stability.

We are creating a dedicated intake team and are hiring a Client Intake Specialist. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, asking good questions, and organizing information—not necessarily someone who wants to be in court.

Role Overview

As a Client Intake Specialist, you will:

  • Be the first point of contact for people reaching out for help
  • Talk with potential clients by phone and through online inquiries
  • Gather key facts and documents
  • Help determine whether their situation fits the types of cases we can take
  • Clearly explain next steps—even when that means telling someone we cannot represent them

You will work closely with the attorneys and legal staff, but this is primarily a front-line intake and triage role, not a traditional litigation or drafting position.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and return calls and online inquiries from potential clients
  • Conduct structured intake interviews using firm checklists and scripts
  • Listen empathetically to callers dealing with stressful financial or credit problems
  • Ask clarifying questions and capture accurate timelines and details
  • Use firm-provided criteria to assess whether a matter should be moved forward
  • Prepare clear summaries for attorney review
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in our intake/case-management systems
  • Upload and organize documents in a paperless environment
  • Follow up with potential clients for missing information or documents
  • Coordinate with attorneys to schedule consultations or follow-up calls

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in customer service, call center work, legal intake, social services, or other client-facing roles (internships and part-time experience count)
  • Strong phone and interpersonal skills; comfortable talking to people in distress
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
  • Comfort with technology (cloud-based software, online forms, multiple applications open at once)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Available to work full-time, Monday–Friday, during Eastern Time business hours
    • Student Status: Must have graduated or have a confirmed graduation date of December 2026

Nice to Have (Preferred)

  • Interest in consumer protection, access to justice, or public-interest work
  • Experience in a law office or legal services setting
  • Familiarity with tools like Clio, Lawmatics, or other CRM/case systems
  • Prior remote work or online collaboration experience

Position Details

  • Location: Remote (within the United States)
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Schedule: Standard business hours (Eastern Time)
  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
  • Benefits:
    • Health insurance
    • Life insurance
    • Disability insurance
    • Paid time off

How to Apply (Handshake)

Please apply via Handshake and include:

  • Your resume
  • A short statement or cover letter (can be uploaded or pasted) addressing:
    • Why this kind of consumer-focused work interests you
    • A time you had to balance empathy with firm boundaries (for example, enforcing a policy or saying “no” while staying respectful)
