About the Role
We are seeking a thoughtful, motivated Brain Health Technician to join our functional medicine practice focused on cognitive health, long COVID, and complex chronic illness.
This role is ideal for individuals taking a gap year before applying to medical school, nursing school, PA school, or other health professions training, or for those with a strong interest in neurodegenerative disease, brain health, and rehabilitation.
You will work directly with patients to help them engage with cognitive training programs and neurofeedback, while gaining meaningful, hands-on clinical experience in a personalized functional medicine model. - Exposure to functional and precision medicine approaches to brain health
- Hands-on experience with cognitive training and neurofeedback
- Opportunity to develop both clinical awareness and patient communication skills
- Mentorship in a practice that values curiosity, initiative, and thoughtful care
Responsibilities
- Guide patients in using a cognitive training platform (e.g., BrainHQ and Brain Guage)
- Conduct in-office neurofeedback sessions (training provided)
- Ensure proper setup and signal quality of neurofeedback equipment
- Support patient follow-through and engagement with their care plans
- Maintain a calm, organized, and welcoming clinical environment
- Notice and communicate meaningful changes or concerns in patient progress

Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree (or completing one soon), preferably in:
- Psychology
- Neuroscience
- Biology / Pre-med
- Health sciences or related field
- Planning a gap year before applying to a health professional program, OR
- Strong interest in brain health, cognitive decline, or rehabilitation
You Might Be a Great Fit If You:
- Naturally attune to others and pick up on subtle cues in how people are feeling
- Prefer to take ownership of your role rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Are patient, calm, and able to meet people where they are
- Take pride in following through and doing things thoroughly, not just quickly
- Are comfortable figuring things out and troubleshooting when something isn’t working
- Are organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Are curious and enjoy learning how and why things work
Training & Experience
- No prior neurofeedback experience required—we will train you
- Prior experience in healthcare, coaching, tutoring, or caregiving is helpful but not required
- Comfort with basic technology (or willingness to learn quickly) is important
Schedule & Commitment
- Full-time preferred (30-40 hours/week)
- Minimum 1-year commitment strongly preferred (ideal for gap year candidates)
- Start/End date is negotiable
