Decorative Concrete Business Intern

SUMMER INTERN — Decorative Concrete & Business Operations

Employment Type: Full-Time, Paid Hourly, Summer Only (May–August, ~12–14 weeks) Location: Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis metro)

This is not a desk job. You'll spend most of your time on job sites — learning to set forms, pour concrete, finish surfaces, and break down equipment. You'll get dirty, work in heat and rain, and put in long days. But you'll also get exposure to the business side — how jobs get bid, how crews get scheduled, how customers are managed, how money flows.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Learn and perform decorative concrete installation: setting forms, pouring, spreading, screeding, and finishing
  • Operate hand tools and power equipment under supervision
  • Apply finishes including stamped patterns, stains, and protective sealants
  • Help with site prep, material staging, equipment cleanup, and breakdown
  • Observe and learn how job estimates are prepared and priced
  • Shadow sales conversations and customer relations
  • Understand project scheduling, crew coordination, and resource planning

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Currently enrolled in a trade or tech school program OR graduated within the last 12 months
  • Physical fitness: can regularly lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in all weather
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Drug test and background check required

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

  • Competitive hourly pay for the full summer
  • All tools, equipment, and PPE
  • Real mentorship from experienced installers and field leads (not coffee runs — actual skill transfer)
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training in concrete techniques
  • Exposure to business fundamentals: estimating, scheduling, operations, customer relations

PREFERRED:

  • Any prior experience in construction, concrete, or labor
  • Interest in entrepreneurship or small business operations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

WHY THIS INTERNSHIP: You'll come back to school with hands-on expertise in decorative concrete, understanding of how a real business operates, real mentorship, and a legitimate addition to your resume. If you're deciding between this and a warehouse job for the summer — here you'll build actual skills and work with people invested in your growth.
