Metal Fabricator/Welder

Position Title: Welder / Fabricator Department: Production Fabrication Reports To: Fabrication Manager / Planner Location: Tacoma, WA. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Urban Accessories designs and manufactures high quality and design forward architectural castings and site furnishings. Since 1972, we have been working with clients to create bespoke solutions for landscape and architectural projects of all sizes.

We are currently seeking a Welder / Metal Fabricator to join our team. 

Position Summary

The Welder / Fabricator at Urban Accessories is responsible for performing high‑quality welding, metal fabrication, and assembly work to support production needs. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding operations according to drawings and specifications. - Fabricate metal components using saws, grinders, cutting torches, and other shop equipment. - Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication diagrams. - Fit, position, and weld components to create final assemblies. - Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards. - Maintain welding equipment and report issues to Maintenance or Supervisor. - Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and LOTO. - Support Lean manufacturing and 5S workplace organization. - Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines.

Required Qualifications

- 2+ years welding and fabrication experience. - Proficiency in MIG welding - Extensive experience in sheet metals, aluminum and steel. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints. - Experience using fabrication tools such as grinders, presses, and shears. - Strong understanding of safe work practices. - Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

- AWS or equivalent welding certifications. - Experience in metals manufacturing. - Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / 5S. - Forklift certification.

Physical Requirements

- Standing, bending, and manual handling throughout the shift. - Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. - Exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and fumes. - Ability to wear required PPE (facemask, gloves, glasses, respirator, etc.) for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position works in a metals manufacturing facility with exposure to welders, grinders, fabrication tools, and foundry-related equipment. Strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
