Schedule: Full-Time (includes evenings and weekends as needed)
Job Description
Recover Now Georgia is seeking a Recreation Therapy Aide to support therapeutic programming within a residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment setting. This position plays a key role in facilitating experiential, creative, and recovery-oriented group interventions that promote client engagement, emotional regulation, and long-term recovery skills.
This role is ideal for individuals pursuing or interested in becoming a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Students needing internship eligibility hours are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist in facilitating and co-leading recreational therapy groups under the supervision of a Recreation Therapist
- Support experiential therapy activities including hiking, nature-based interventions, kayaking, and team-building exercises
- Assist with art-based therapy sessions focused on self-expression and recovery themes
- Participate in music-based therapy groups such as lyric analysis and therapeutic music engagement
- Promote a safe, structured, and supportive therapeutic environment
- Encourage client participation, engagement, and appropriate social interaction
- Observe and document client behavior, participation, and progress using BIRP (Behavior, Intervention, Response, Plan) documentation format
- Collaborate with the clinical team to support individualized treatment goals
- Maintain safety awareness and follow all program protocols during activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Coursework or enrollment in Recreational Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or related field preferred
- Students seeking CTRS eligibility hours are encouraged to apply
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to engage with clients in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Creative, flexible, and team-oriented
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Must adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality standards
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
