After School Lead Teacher

After school lead teacher position (part-time)

Fun and interactive part time position as the lead teacher in an after school program based on social emotional learning and environmental education. Grades range from  kindergarten through 5th grade.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with kids (preferred but not mandatory). 
  • Passionate about the education of a young child to better this world.
  • Warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.
  • Be able to relate well with children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the company’s program and philosophy.
  • Be committed and passionate about providing the best experience possible for children, their parents and school’s staff.
  • Open minded to a non traditional way of teaching. 
  • Hands-on teaching approach experience.
  • Yoga and meditation experience or at least personal practice (preferred).
  • Eco-friendly lifestyle (preferred).
  • Pursuing a career in teaching (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the classroom and all activities to ensure safety at all times, including following COVID19 protocols.
  • Maintain a neat and organized classroom and environment.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect. 
  • Greet parents and children with salutations and smiles. 
  • Participate in dismissal procedures, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult.
  • Meet with parents about daily activities, positive development and issues.
  • Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth, maintaining current knowledge of early childhood practices.
  • Can easily lift 40 pounds and can get up and down from the floor quickly.
  • Speaks and writes English and Spanish clearly.
  • Create lesson plans for both the social emotional and the environmental education courses.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in college (Preferred)

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience working with K - 5th grade children (preferred) 

Language:

  • Speak and writes English clearly
  • Speak and writes Spanish clearly (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
