Community Programs Coordinator
Position Summary
SoundBio Lab is seeking a Community Programs Coordinator to support the development and delivery of community-based science education programs. This role works closely with the Education and Outreach Committee to coordinate partnerships, manage program logistics, and support hands on learning experiences in biotechnology and life sciences. A key part of the role is recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers who help deliver outreach events and public programs.
This is a part-time, predominantly in-person role based in Seattle.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate community science programs, workshops, and outreach events
- Recruit, train, coordinate, and support volunteers for outreach events and public programs
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, nonprofits, and community partners
- Manage participant and partner communications for workshops and programs
- Support development and refinement of educational programming
- Lead or support on-site event execution
- Track attendance, collect feedback, and maintain program records
- Coordinate with the Lab Operations Manager on space, equipment, and safety needs
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience coordinating or supporting programs, events, and volunteers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through independently
- Ability to travel locally to program and event locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in collaborative environments
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana
- Experience contributing to or developing educational programming
Compensation and Schedule
- Approximately 40 hours per month
- Predominantly in-person in Seattle, including the U District lab
- $25.00 per hour
- Flexible scheduling with accountability for deliverables
Additional Information
Prior experience in life sciences or education is not required. Interest in both areas, along with strong organizational and documentation skills, is important.
