Organization Description and Position Description
CITYarts engages youth and professional artists in the creation of public art, including murals and mosaics. Through this creative process, CITYarts empowers, educates, and connects youth and children locally and around the world to become active participants in realizing their potential and transforming communities.
Position Description:
The Gala/Event Planning interns, reporting to the Executive and Creative Director, will provide essential assistance in planning and coordinating CITYarts’ annual fundraising event: 2026 Annual Gala Celebrating 250 Years of the American Dream. This is a short, one month internship with the potential to work longer depending on need. The Gala will be held on May 27th at the Crosby Street Hotel. This internship provides a small stipend of $15/8hrs worked to offset travel and food expenses.
Under the Guidance of the Executive and Creative Director, The Event Planner and Coordinator Intern will collaborate with CITYarts staff on:
- Researching and communicating with vendors for the Luxury Goods Auction including calling and emailing commercial stores for donations.
- Coordinating the acquisition and documentation of goods and services
- Assisting the Project Coordinator with communications, documentation, and archiving of artworks for the live and online Art Auction portion of the Gala
- Coordinating with venue staff before, during, and after the Gala.
- Assisting day-of along with CITYarts staff and interns with the installation of Gala Auction items on-site, helping to ensure that packing and inventory protocols are adhered to.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong sense of professionalism
- Interested in non-profit fundraising for the arts--pursuing an event planning or related degree is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; email etiquette
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experienced with online research
