Liger Zelaya Financial & Tax Advisors is a boutique, family-run CPA & CFO advisory firm helping business owners, high-income earners, and investors build profitable, scalable, and tax-efficient businesses.

We go beyond bookkeeping.

We provide financial clarity, forecasting, and strategic insight — acting as a true partner in our clients’ growth.

The Opportunity (Bottom Line)

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant who can own the day-to-day accounting while also contributing to financial insights, forecasting, and client advisory.

  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Ensure financials are clean, accurate, and ready for tax and advisory use

📈 Forecasting & Planning

  • Assist in building financial forecasts and budgets
  • Analyze forecast vs. actual performance and provide insights
  • Support clients and internal team with forward-looking financial guidance

🧠 Advisory Support

  • Prepare management reports, notes, and presentation decks for client meetings
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborate with tax and advisory teams to support client strategy

⚙️ Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work across multiple accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reporting efficiency
  • Help standardize processes as the firm scales

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2–3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with reconciliations (bank, payroll, liabilities)
  • Experience preparing financial statements
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar)
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills

🔥 Preferred

  • Experience working with multiple clients or in a firm environment
  • Exposure to forecasting, budgeting, or financial modeling
  • Experience creating management reports or presentations
  • CPA candidate or pursuing certification

What We’re Looking For

  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical mindset — able to interpret, not just prepare numbers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Clear communicator who can simplify financial information
  • Someone who wants to grow into a client-facing advisory role

What You’ll Gain

  • Exposure to CFO-level advisory and financial strategy
  • Experience working with growth-focused businesses and high earners
  • Opportunity to expand beyond accounting into forecasting and planning
  • A collaborative, family-run environment focused on excellence and growth

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (based on experience)
  • Growth and advancement opportunities
  • Remote flexibility (U.S. hours required)
  • Performance-based incentives (as role evolves)

Final Note

If you’re looking to move beyond basic accounting and step into a role where your work directly impacts business decisions and growth, this is the opportunity.

We’re building a firm where accounting is not just compliance — it’s a strategic advantage.
