YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT
As the Parks Coordinator, you will:
· Direct and supervise the daily operations of a large, complex group of parks and nature facilities.
· Oversee trails, boardwalks, roads, grounds, facilities, exhibits, and natural areas — ensuring safe, welcoming, environmentally sensitive public spaces.
· Lead, mentor, and support staff and volunteers across maintenance, programming, natural areas, visitor services, and wildlife care.
· Plan, develop, and evaluate environmental education and nature-based recreation programs that inspire curiosity and encourage stewardship.
· Manage the facilities budget, administrative operations, nonprofit partner (Friends of Green Cay), and fundraising initiatives.
· Maintain strong public relations and represent the parks to schools, partner agencies, community groups, and advisory boards.
· Coordinate renovation and construction projects, interagency work, commercial vendors, and contracted services.
· Research, write, and monitor grants, accreditation submissions, and certification proposals.
· Oversee rehabilitation and maintenance of wetlands, natural areas, and wildlife exhibits.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
· A Bachelor’s Degree in Parks/Recreation Administration, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Business/Public Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related field; minimum of five (5) years of project coordination experience, including experience developing, implementing, and monitoring park and recreation operations or special projects,
OR
· An unrelated Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of six (6) years of project coordination experience, including experience developing, implementing, and monitoring park and recreation operations or special projects,
OR
· An Associate’s Degree in Parks/Recreation Administration, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Business/Public Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related field; minimum of seven (7) years of project coordination experience, including experience developing, implementing, and monitoring park and recreation operations or special projects,
OR
· An unrelated Associate’s Degree; minimum of eight (8) years of project coordination experience, including experience developing, implementing, and monitoring park and recreation operations or special projects,
OR
· Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of nine (9) years of project coordination experience, including experience developing, implementing, and monitoring park and recreation operations or special projects.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Qualified applicants for this position:
· Must possess five (5) years of supervisory experience in planning and directing park operations and projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
· Experience researching, creating, and leading nature programs,
· Experience maintaining interagency relationships (must specify on application),
· Experience writing and monitoring grants, accreditation, and certification proposals, and
· Experience working with community interest and advisory groups.
