School Counselor K-12 (Middle School Opening)
Under limited supervision, plans, provides, coordinates professional school counseling services designed to help students with academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.
Provides prevention, intervention, and crisis counseling services, personal and academic support, and maintains confidential student records. Reports to the Director of School Counseling.
Specific Duties and Job Functions
- Implements a comprehensive school counseling plan for the school
- Conducts small group, individual, and classroom guidance lessons as needed
- Provides crisis intervention for students
- Provides brief, short-term counseling and understands when to refer for outside mental or behavioral health service providers
- Works with students and families to plan for academic needs
- Consults with the Director of School Counseling, other school counselors, principals, teachers, and essential personnel on cases as necessary
- Takes an active role in promoting the mission of Providence School
- Ensures student records are kept up to date and accurate
- Coordinates special events, projects, or programs as assigned
- Provides in-service to teachers and other school personnel related to school counselor functions and roles
- Assists and/or plans for standardized testing, semester exams, AP testing, and other assessments
- Has good oral and written communication skills Requirements
Requirements
- Holds a Professional School Counseling K-12 Certificate from the State of Florida in School Counseling
- Is eligible or holds ACSI Certification in School Counseling K-12
- Has experience or training commensurate with job responsibilities
- Has experience in using technology for scheduling, student information systems, basic technology requirements including Microsoft Office, and operates various types of office equipment
