Job Title: Part-Time Laboratory Technician (2 Positions Available)

Position Overview

We are seeking two reliable and detail-oriented part-time laboratory technicians to support ongoing research activities in a molecular biology laboratory. This is an hourly position requiring individuals who can execute routine experimental procedures with consistency, accuracy, and minimal supervision after initial training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine molecular biology experiments, including but not limit to: 
    • DNA and RNA extraction
    • PCR and genotyping 
    • Agarose gel electrophoresis 
    • Western blotting 
  • Conduct animal-related procedures, including: 
    • Mouse handling and basic colony maintenance 
    • Tissue collection
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and maintain laboratory supplies 
  • Accurately document experimental procedures and results 
  • Maintain laboratory organization and ensure compliance with established protocols 
  • Follow all institutional safety and regulatory guidelines 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Prior hands-on experience in a molecular biology or biomedical laboratory 
  • Ability to perform standard routine lab techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blot, et al 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols precisely 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively 
  • Professional reliability and consistency in task execution 

Preferred:

  • Experience with mouse handling 
  • Background in biology, biochemistry, or related field 

Position Details

  • Type: Part-time, hourly 
  • Schedule: 5-20 hours/week (flexible but consistent availability required) 
  • Location: North Dakota State University, Department of pharmaceutical sciences, Fargo, ND
  • Compensation: Hourly rate commensurate with experience
