COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Communications Specialist will meet the qualifications listed below and be primarily responsible for supporting communications strategies across multiple OHA channels including newsletters, social media, and the OHA website. This role places a strong emphasis on graphic design and visual storytelling, creating high-quality digital and print materials that engage audiences and strengthen brand identity. The Communications Specialist will collaborate on messaging strategy while translating concepts into visually impactful designs that enhance brand visibility, promote the organization’s services and programs, and effectively position OHA initiatives to both new and existing audiences. This position reports directly to the Digital Communications Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supporting content creation with graphic design for the implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies (e.g. social media, email campaigns, executive presentations, program brochures, etc.) that create awareness of OHA’s brand and Ohio hospitals
- Conceptualizing and producing creative content that resonates with OHA’s strategic plan and brand messaging and values in collaboration with the Digital Communications Manager
- Supporting the OHA Communications Team by managing OHA's Corporate Partnership calendars for newsletter and social media
- Supporting management of OHA’s website using Wordpress.
- Managing multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives
- Writing support for weekly and monthly OHA and association newsletters
- Maintaining and editing templates for all corporate communications through Click Dimensions system and Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint)
- Participating in OHA team and OHA member meetings as assigned
- Safeguarding OHA brand tone, look and feel with all member and public communications
- Supporting preparation for CEO presentations and visits
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, public relations, business or related field
- 1-2 years of internship experience
- Broad knowledge of health care industry
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiar with AP style, excellent editing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively at all levels within the organization, as well as work independently on individual projects and job assignments
- Ability to be resourceful and display a strong desire to take initiative
- Strong desire to learn and grow
- Excellent attention to detail
