Extension Nutrition Intern - Cache County

Make a positive impact by supporting programs that strengthen both youth and families. This internship focuses on 4-H youth development and home and community education, offering hands-on experience in areas such as leadership development, nutrition, wellness, and family life. Interns will help deliver programs, develop educational materials, and engage with participants of all ages.

You’ll gain experience working in both youth and community settings, with opportunities to collaborate, lead activities, and build professional skills. Flexible scheduling may be available depending on program needs. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in Extension, community education, community health, or family and consumer sciences.

This position is hybrid work eligible within the state of Utah, with in-person responsibilities in Cache County, UT.

 

Responsibilities

Program & Event Support

  • Coordinate and deliver the Level Up! with Wellness summer youth program, including planning and teaching interactive wellness workshops for children and adolescents to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors
  • Support and co-facilitate hands-on cooking classes for middle and high school youth, focusing on building practical food preparation skills and nutrition knowledge

Research & Evaluation

  • Lead implementation and evaluation of a grocery store nutrition education initiative, including conducting community-based research and assessing program reach and effectiveness in Cache County
  • Collaborate on ongoing community-based projects, including assisting with data collection, basic analysis, and interpretation to support program improvement and reporting

Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Engage in Extension outreach and community partnerships

Professional Development & Other Duties

  • Engage in Extension operations, gaining exposure to day-to-day county programming and the role of Extension in public health education
