FIB Applications Specialist

Sr. Applications Specialist - FIB Products

The FIB Applications Specialist provides applications support to the Sales and Marketing team through demonstrations of FIB products to existing and potential customers. The position involves running samples in the lab and demonstrating the product line to customers. Other responsibilities include participating in the development and delivery of FIB training courses.

The FIB Applications Specialist will:

  • Provide applications support and workflow development on JEOL’s state-of-the-art PS500i FIB/SEM Dual Beam
  • Train customers in best practices for FIB/SEM operation
  • Work directly with users to optimize methods for TEM lamella preparation and other relevant FIB/SEM applications, including advanced automation and recipe development
  • Prepare training materials and documentation pertaining to instrument operation for continued use of FIB/SEM and associated techniques.
  • Attend and present results at relevant conferences/workshops as applicable
  • Run samples and demonstrate the full capabilities of FIB products to existing and potential customers in the applications lab, at customer sites, and scientific conferences
  • Provide clear reports from sample data acquired at demos or from customer samples to promote our FIB products
  • Assist Product Managers with the evaluation of new products, software, or accessories
  • Maintain technical data pertaining to JEOL instruments and competitor’s instrumentation

FIB Applications Specialist Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Materials Science or related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience using FIB for sample preparation and characterization; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
  • Some travel (25%) to customer sites for training and applications support
  • Must live in the Boise, Idaho area

Minimum $90,000 - Maximum $100,000, plus up to 15% incentive. The base range above represents the low and high end of the JEOL salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on several factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition, JEOL provides a variety of benefits to eligible employees including health and dental insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a 401K plan with company match and contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, paid sick time, and paid vacation.
