Licensed Practical Nurse
The Ambulatory Surgical Center located in Eye Health Vision Centers is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to work in our Ambulatory Surgical Center four days per week. We are open to full time or part time employment, and there are no evenings or weekends.
Job Summary:
Licensed Practical Nurses provide general and routine care to patients. They monitor the health of patients and look for signs that indicate whether their health is deteriorating or improving. An LPN also offers comfort and support to patients and their family and friends. Licensed Practical Nurses may also complete some administrative tasks such as answering or making phone calls, as well as inputting data or information into the computer.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Records a patient’s medical history accurately.
- Takes and records measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.
- Observes patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
- Monitors patients’ condition during fluid intake and output and compose patient charts.
- Assists ailing patients in daily necessary activities.
- Administers injections, prescribed medications, enemas, etc. cleans and dresses wounds and assists with other basic medical care tasks.
- Collects samples for lab testing as assigned.
- Provides emotional and psychological support when needed.
- Communicates with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience as an LPN or similar role
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with hospital health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing practices
- Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
- Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry
- Perfect physical condition and stamina
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and able to handle stress
- Successful completion of LPN license program is a must
- Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification from an accredited LPN program
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, Standing, Bending, Reaching, Stooping, Walking and Lifting
- Ability to see, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks
- Driving independently to other facilities
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions:
Travel to other locations is necessary at times.
Occupational Exposure - Category Ill exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards.
