Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Education or related field preferred)

Responsibilities
The English Language Arts teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment that inspires curiosity, confidence, and a passion for learning.
This role includes teaching three blocks of classes, each with fewer than 10 students, allowing for highly personalized instruction. Student groups are intentionally formed based on a mix of age and ability, typically including:
- A 4th–5th grade group
- A 6th–8th grade group
- A 9th grade group
Within this structure, you will support students as they grow into confident, expressive readers and writers, meeting them where they are and helping them progress meaningfully.
Instruction will include:
- Guiding students through a range of writing experiences—from research essays to poetry
- Leading novel studies using rich, high-quality literature
- Supporting students through SIPPS intervention as needed to strengthen foundational literacy skills
- Utilizing tools such as Accelerated Reader (AR) and Lexia to help fill gaps and track growth
- Students will also be prepared for future academic success, including readiness for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT, through strong reading comprehension, writing skills, and critical thinking development.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure that CrossTown 119 is a gospel environment by maintaining our culture of discipleship.
- Collaborate with and follow the guidance of the Head of School to ensure curriculum objectives are met while adhering to the framework and vision of the school for holistic learning.
- Create a safe and supportive classroom environment using clear boundaries, connection, and consistency to help students feel secure and respected.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, utilizing the school curriculum and incorporating creative, personalized approaches (interactive read-alouds, art, music, movement).
- Take the time to deeply understand lessons, concepts, and curriculum goals to deliver high-quality and meaningful instruction.
- Regularly assess student growth, provide timely feedback, and communicate progress to students and families.
