Sports Information & Assistant Athletic Director
St. Joseph High School seeks a Sports Information & Assistant Athletic Director.
Reports to: Director of Athletics
Position Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week) / Stipend-Based ($32,500)
Hours: M-F 2:00pm-7:00pm School Year, Saturdays 5 hours on average
Summers: M-F 9:00am-3:00pm
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Position Overview:
The Sports Information & Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of athletic communications to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging coverage of our school’s athletic program. This position plays a vital role in promoting student-athletes, enhancing school spirit, and
supporting the Athletics Department’s communication strategies through digital platforms, in-game coverage, photography, and video content. The position will also assist the Athletic Director, with administrative responsibilities, gameday operations and site supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Website & Digital Updates
- Maintain and update the Athletics section of the school website, including:
- Team rosters and photos
- News articles, announcements, and season summaries
Social Media Management & Live Coverage
- Serve as the primary content creator for Athletics social media (under the SJ Brand account)
- Post real-time updates during games and events using Stories, Reels, and Live Video
- Highlight student-athletes through captain spotlights and achievement features
- Promote daily/weekly game schedules and key matchups
- Celebrate athletic milestones, awards (All-State, All-Conference), and team accomplishments
Photography & Visual Media
- Capture photography for some key events, including:
- Senior Night celebrations
- Team photos and action shots
- Support parent volunteers for photography needs
Student Intern & Journalism Support
- Supervise and collaborate with student interns or journalism club members to:
- Feature game recaps, athlete interviews, and editorial content
- Share student-created content across platforms
Scoreboard & Video Content Support
- Assist with planning, developing, and operating content for the digital video scoreboard during home games and events
- Create visual assets, hype videos, or sponsor slides to enhance the in-game experience
Site Supervision Support
- Provide game day site supervision and game operations support
- Help coordinate and run score clock operations
- Work and greet officials on game days
- Assistant with Gate/Ticket operations
Administrative Functions
- Coordinate End of Season team awards and banquets with head coaches
- Draft and assist AD with field/gym schedules
- Update CIAC/FCIAC rosters for eligibility requirements
- Conduct and coordinate college coaches visits on campus
- Inputting of all game scores daily to the CIAC/FCIAC/SJ websites
Qualifications:
- Experience in content creation, social media management, and sports communications
- Strong writing, editing, and photography/videography skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for game coverage
- Familiarity with high school athletics and a passion for promoting student-athletes
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Knowledge of website CMS platforms and score-reporting systems
- Familiarity with digital scoreboards or broadcasting software
- Gameday operations and management experience in high school or college athletics
