The starting annual salary for this position is $47,840, with final compensation determined based on relevant experience.

Position Summary:

The Project Designer helps bring Motawi tile installations to life, crafting thoughtful designs for fireplaces, backsplashes, baths, floors, and more. Rooted in Motawi’s commitment to craftsmanship and exceptional client care, this role works closely with homeowners and designers to shape project vision, define scope, and guide clients through the design and selection process with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design project layouts for clients.
  • Partner with clients to define project scope, schedule consultations, verify tile counts, and manage quotes, orders, and payments.
  • Assist clients in person, by phone, and via email with tile design layouts using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Explain product changes clearly and troubleshoot project issues of any risk level with a calm, solutions‑focused approach.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex schematics and architectural elevations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inquiries, client feedback, and sales activity.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure product accuracy, quality, and on‑time delivery.
  • Support project planning by applying knowledge of annual sales projections and budgeting.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall workflow.

 

Related Duties:

  • Stay current on industry trends by conducting research and attending relevant events.
  • Support marketing and social media activities as requested.

 

Hours/Schedule:

Full time 40 hours per week exempt position/Monday – Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM. During onboarding, this position is 100% on-site; after onboarding concludes, a one‑day‑per‑week remote option may be available. Overnight and weekend hours/travel may be required just a few times per year. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Successful experience collaborating with clients to develop creative, adaptable solutions.
  • Strong visual and spatial design aptitude with an eye for aesthetics and effective layout (Note: this aptitude will be evaluated during the interview process).
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend complex schematics and architectural elevations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel -basic formulas, Outlook email and calendar).
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator or other design software.
  • Strong project‑management abilities, including handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communicator with superb interpersonal skills, a professional, client‑focused approach.
  • Collaborative team member with problem‑solving skills and a positive, solutions‑focused mindset.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and adaptable in a dynamic work environment.

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Interior or architectural design experience with a proven ability to understand and apply design principles effectively.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
