Physical Science Teacher

Job Purpose:

The Physical Science Teacher at Summit Christian Academy is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous instruction in physical science to high school students within a Christ-centered learning environment. This role integrates scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a biblical worldview while supporting students' academic, spiritual, and personal growth in alignment with the mission and values of Summit Christian Academy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver effective lesson plans in physical science (including chemistry, physics, and other physical science courses as assigned) that align with state standards, school curriculum goals, and Christian values.
  • Create a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that encourages curiosity, inquiry-based learning, and active student participation.
  • Plan and facilitate laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and scientific investigations that reinforce key concepts and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including exams, labs, projects, and formative assessments, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support students at varying academic levels.
  • Integrate faith and learning by helping students explore and understand scientific concepts through a biblical worldview.
  • Collaborate with fellow high school faculty, parents, and administrators to support student success academically, behaviorally, and spiritually.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, grades, and attendance in accordance with school policies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide events.
  • Uphold and model the mission, values, and Christian character expectations of Summit Christian Academy in all interactions.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred

Required Experience:

  • Experience teaching physical science at the high school level (grades 9–12)
  • Experience working in a faith-based or Christian educational environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate Christian values into science instruction and classroom culture

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong content knowledge in physical science and effective instructional practices for high school learners
  • Ability to design and implement engaging, lab-based and inquiry-driven lessons
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment aligned to high school standards
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in science education and instructional technology
  • Ability to foster students’ academic excellence, spiritual development, and personal responsibility in alignment with Christian principles
