Job Description
The Ohio Hispanic Coalition is in search of dedicated individuals to work as Summer Camp Counselors for the Niños en Acción (Children in Action) Summer Enrichment Camp. Staff will start on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026 and ending on Friday, August 21st, 2026. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 4:00PM, excluding federal holidays.

About the Program
Niños en Acción (Children in Action) is a culturally responsive summer enrichment program serving Latino/Hispanic youth ages 6–13 in Central Ohio.
The program combines STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and social-emotional learning to help students build confidence, academic skills, leadership, and positive identity in a safe, engaging environment.
Program Dates: Monday, June 8, 2026 – Friday, August 21, 2026
Program Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday–Friday)

What You’ll Do
Student Engagement & Instruction
- Lead and support daily educational and recreational activities including STEAM, arts, literacy, and physical activity
- Engage students in group learning, teamwork, and skill-building exercises
- Assist with lesson planning, classroom management, and activity facilitation
Program Operations
- Prepare classrooms and materials for daily programming
- Support meal distribution and maintain a clean, organized environment
- Assist with field trips and ensure student safety on-site and during transportation
Youth Development & Support
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants
- Support students’ social-emotional development, conflict resolution, and teamwork
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding student progress or concerns
Family & Community Engagement
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and families
- Represent OHCO at community events and outreach activities (as needed)
What You Bring
Required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to pass a BCI background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to commit to the full program dates (June 3 – August 21, 2026)
- Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
Preferred
- College student or recent graduate (Education, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field)
- Experience working with children, youth programs, tutoring, or camps
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
Physical & Schedule Expectations
- Active, hands-on role requiring standing, walking, and engaging with students throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Work is primarily outdoors and in active environments
- Occasional early mornings, field trips, and community events
Important Commitment Requirement
This is a high-impact, team-based program, and consistent attendance is critical to student success.
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the program.
Requests for 3 or more days off during camp will not be considered unless disclosed and approved before hire.
