Bilingual Legal Assistant
SYH PLLC is seeking a self-starting bilingual English-Spanish legal assistant for work in immigration and non-immigration law, available to start ASAP.
The legal assistant will support paralegals and attorney by:
— Organizing and maintaining case files;
— Communicating with clients, orally and in writing;
— Preparing application packages for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office of Immigration Review;
— Filing motions and evidence before Texas state courts and Federal courts;
— Drafting briefings, pleadings, and correspondence.
No experience is required, however, a successful applicant should be able to demonstrate the following key traits:
— Quick Learner: applies lessons from one task to autonomously perform similar tasks;
— Self Starter: takes responsibility for one's work and unafraid to make contact with others to obtain progress and approval;
— Attention to Detail: types accurately, is able to correct one's own errors and spot discrepancies;
— Organization and adaptability: able to manage multi-step processes and prioritize between simultaneous tasks, including communication with colleagues, superiors, and clients;
— Conscientiousness: recognizes of the importance of one's work to the lives of our clients.
— Strong communication skills in English and Spanish.
The following interests are a plus, and will be cultivated in this position:
— Federal immigration policy;
— Civil litigation procedure;
— Political, social, and economic conditions of Latin America and East Asia;
— Microeconomics and family finance;
— English writing and argumentation.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Compensation to be discussed at interview.
