Design Engineer
Schedule: 7:30AM - 4:30PM Monday-Thursday
7:30AM - 2:00 PM Friday
Applicants must currently live within daily commuting distance of our office in Baltimore, Maryland. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
Design Engineer w/Systems Support
Summary: Designs and develops products and components utilized in fire protection systems. Assists & supports in designing customer specific Engineered Systems including volume calculations, system design and technical support.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Design and develop new products and ideas which may include developing procedures, testing and training as well as pricing.
2. Participate in developing improvements/enhancements in existing products, components and processes. Participate in presentations and training sessions as required.
3. Update technical documents as required.
4. Design and develop engineered fire protection systems for marine, land-based and transportation applications including the design and development of supplemental & complimentary components/accessories in accordance with regulatory & approval agencies.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate and speak effectively to peers and supervisors.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, AutoCad 11 or above, SolidWorks 2010 and above

Special Skills:
Ability to read mechanical drawings
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
Ability to diagnostic equipment effectively
Ability to produce technical documents
