Manufacturing Process Engineer

Work Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Friday 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Summary:
Responsible for improving the manufacturing assembly processes and equipment. Creating original and updating production procedures for both new product introduction and long-term established production. Managing projects from start to finish, encompassing the observation, root cause analysis, design, documentation, approval and introduction into manufacturing. Activities include application of lean manufacturing, 6S and other continuous improvement techniques.
Maintains and enforces manufacturing adherence to meet the requirements of an ISO 9000 Quality Management System as well as numerous industry specific and domestic/international regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Designs new and improves on existing manual assembly operations, automated assembly processes, mechanical inspection techniques.
2. Research and specifies new equipment and equipment upgrades.
3. Shares efforts across 5 separate production areas.
4. Assists in the development and maintenance of the Preventive Maintenance Program.
5. Participates in Plant Safety Team.
6. Supports process improvements for other company indirect departments; Quality, Internal logistics and administrative functions.
7. Applies Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Education/Experience:
Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:

Ability to read mechanical drawings
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
