Content Creator Internship

As a Content Creator Intern to support the Virginia Women and Family Support Center (VAWFSC) storytelling and digital presence, you will play a key role in creating compelling short form video content that advances the mission of VAWFSC. Our mission is to provide housing for pregnant women experiencing homelessness and their children, while also delivering maternal health advocacy and resources. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, content creation and executing daily administrative functions in support of our Media and Communications Strategist and Marketing Manager.

You will be actively involved in conceptualizing, filming, and editing short form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. Your ability to identify trends, create engaging storytelling moments, and produce high quality video content will contribute directly to increasing awareness, engagement, and community impact. You will also assist in maintaining content calendars, supporting campaign initiatives, and capturing real time content at events and program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functionality and coordination of content creation efforts
  • Support the marketing team in organizing and executing content driven projects that promote the mission and services of VAWFSC
  • Conceptualize, film, and edit short form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Capture video content at events, program activities, and day to day operations
  • Identify and incorporate social media trends, sounds, and formats into content creation
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a consistent video content calendar
  • Write captions and on screen text that align with VAWFSC’s voice and messaging
  • Monitor social media performance and apply insights to improve future content
  • Assist in the planning and execution of promotional events and capture content to support them
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling digital storytelling campaigns

Skills

  • Proven experience as a content creator, videographer, or student in marketing, communications, or media
  • Strong understanding of short form video platforms and content trends
  • Demonstrable ability to multi task and adhere to deadlines
  • Well organized with a creative and detail oriented approach
  • Experience with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar platforms
  • Good understanding of social media analytics and performance tracking
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to film and produce content using a smartphone or camera
  • High School diploma required, with a degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field as a strong advantage
