The Role
We're looking for a Social Media Manager who lives and breathes the news cycle. This isn't a traditional social media role — you'll be operating at the intersection of breaking news, editorial judgment, and real-time content execution across Instagram, X (Twitter), and Bluesky. You'll work closely with our marketing team to translate the latest stories into fast, shareable, high-quality content that reflects Newdle's brand: sharp, defiant, credibility-obsessed.
What You'll Do
News Monitoring & Trend Identification
- Stay plugged into news 24/7 across politics, technology, and culture
- Monitor breaking news across X, Bluesky, AP, Reuters, and niche verticals in real time
- Identify trending stories with high viral or informational value before they peak
- Develop a reliable, repeatable system for flagging stories that warrant same-day content
Content Direction & Video Collaboration
- Brief and guide the video editor daily — turning story summaries into concise, actionable creative direction
- Review video drafts for accuracy, pacing, and brand voice before publication
- Co-develop recurring content formats and templates that can scale across platforms
- Apply basic video edits (trimming, captions, transitions) when turnaround time demands it
Platform Management — X, Instagram, Bluesky
- Schedule and publish content across all three platforms with platform-native formatting
- Manage comments, replies, and community engagement with speed and editorial care
- Execute strategic reposts and quote-posts to amplify Newdle's voice in relevant conversations
- Monitor performance metrics and share weekly insights with the team
- Maintain a consistent posting cadence and brand voice across all channels
Design & Visual Execution
- Use Figma to produce or refine social graphics, carousels, and Story templates
- Ensure all visuals meet Newdle's brand standards — clean, editorial, never clickbait
- Collaborate with the growth and editorial teams on launch campaigns and product announcements
What We're Looking For
Required
- 2+ years of social media management experience, ideally at a media company, newsroom, or news-adjacent startup
- Demonstrable news obsession - you read the news constantly and can hold your own in a conversation about today's top stories
- Hands-on experience managing X (Twitter), Instagram, and Bluesky accounts professionally
- Proficiency in Figma for social design and template creation
- Basic video editing skills in CapCut, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent
- Excellent written communication and ability to write in a brand voice that is sharp, concise, and credible
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-powered content tools
- Familiarity with Bluesky community culture and the AT Protocol ecosystem
- Experience managing or growing social accounts for a media startup pre-launch
- Understanding of SEO and how it intersects with social distribution
