Graduate Assistant for the Office of Financial Affairs (OFA)

Summary of Job Duties:
This Graduate Assistant (GA) position supports the Office of Financial Affairs (OFA), a branch of the Associated Student Government (ASG) that awards student activity fee funding to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The GA reports to the Assistant Director for Student Government Leadership, who serves as the OFA Advisor. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with the ASG Treasurer in supporting OFA fiscal operations; meeting with RSOs requesting more than $1,000 from OFA for pre-event planning consultations; remaining familiar with OFA Standing Rules; attending weekly OFA board meetings held Thursdays 5:00-6:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semester; helping facilitate the interpretation of the standing rules for funding decisions, encouraging an impartial review of budgets, and clarifying procurement rules or processes.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
Available to attend OFA Board meetings, held Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semester
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with basic budgeting
Experience with event management, meeting coordination, and agenda development
Prior experience working with student leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to plan effective events
Time management and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic budgeting skills

Compensation & Benefits:
$14,445 for 50% appointed, 9 month, master's degree seeking GAs

Hours and Schedule:
The position is designed to be a 20 hour per week in-person commitment
Weekly hours worked between 8am-7pm
Must attend weekly OFA board meetings, Thursdays 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Start date is 8/10/2026 and end date is 5/14/2027
