Event Coordinator Intern
Overview:
- This is a 12-week, seasonal internship with Downtown Boise Association, a 501(c)6 non-profit organization running May 18, 2026 through August 11, 2026
- Internship pays $15 hourly on a bi-weekly basis with an estimated total of 81 hours over the 12-week session.
- Schedule is based on Summer Event calendar and is not flexible. Number of hours worked per week will vary based on scheduled events.
- This internship takes place entirely in person in Downtown Boise with no option for virtual work.

Position Description:
Downtown Boise Association (DBA) seeks an Event Coordinator Intern who has an interest in learning more about facilitating community events and placemaking within a non-profit structure. This position will work closely with the Community Engagement Manager to refine event logistics and develop community engagement through fun, free public events. You’ll collaborate with a team of five staff members and your fellow interns who are setting the course for the future of downtown.
Selected candidate(s) will assist with event preparation, onsite tasks, and volunteer management for The Father’s Day Car Show, Alive After 5, and DT Plays.
Candidates who have an interest in community engagement and event planning, who may not have prior experience, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:
- Can comfortably lift 30lbs, comfortably walk for up to 2 hours, and comfortably work outside in the summer months. This position involves a lot of equipment set up and door-to-door communication in Downtown Boise!
- Demonstrates oral and written communication skills and effectively delegates tasks to a volunteer team.
- Shows ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks during an event.
- Prior education and/or experience with customer service, project management, event planning, placemaking, or community engagement is a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation to Downtown Boise for all internship activities
- Applicants must be 18+ and eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Community Engagement Manager and Activation Manager with logistics before, during and after events and activations including door-to-door communications and equipment preparation.
- Independently lead orientation of event volunteers and be a touch point for volunteer groups
- Capture and internally share content for social media and other marketing mediums
- Foster and cultivate a sense of inclusivity, continually working to make DBF and our output as welcoming, inclusive, and equitable as possible.
- Represent DBA professionally as you work with downtown businesses and connect with community members
Compensation:
This position is a temporary, seasonal internship.
Selected applicants will be paid $15 per hour on a bi-weekly basis over a 12-week period.
Selected applicants will receive a $50.00 parking stipend in the form of a Downtown Boise gift card to be used at parking meters downtown during work shifts.
This position does not include additional benefits.
Work Environment & Schedule:
Must be able to successfully work both independently and collaboratively in an office setting and on-site for events. Schedule is based around the events and is largely inflexible. The position is expected to cover a total of 81 hours over 12 weeks, with weekly hours varying based on the event schedule. Applicants should be available for all events in the schedule below. All scheduled events take place in Downtown Boise.
