Nature Reserve Intern

 

Forest Park Forever is seeking a Nature Reserve Intern for a summer position in land and restoration management. The Intern will assist the Nature Reserve Stewards and Nature Reserve Technicians in day-to-day management activities. Major responsibilities will include native species identification and exotic species control to restore ecosystem function and structure within natural communities. Other projects may include bluebird monitoring, flora and fauna surveys, working with volunteers, and education. The position is located primarily within the Nature Reserve of Forest Park; the Nature Reserve consists of ~170 acres of old growth forest, reconstructed savannah, prairie, wetland, and waterway habitat in St. Louis City. The Intern will develop a working knowledge of Missouri flora, and gain experience in the creation and maintenance of high-quality natural communities in an urban setting.

Qualified applicants will be a rising college Junior, Senior, or recent graduate with coursework in botany and land management; experience in ornithology and wildlife management preferred. Preferred work term is May to August, but starting and ending dates are flexible. Pay is competitive. Housing is not provided.
