Director of Manufacturing
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs all aspects of manufacturing operations at New Boston, Texas site in order to produce cost-effective and high-quality products in a safe, secure and environmentally compliant manner.
- Works closely with the Environmental, Health and Safety Director to ensure the sites operate in compliance will all regulatory requirements and programs; establish, maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program
- Direct and manage plant operations for production, quality, engineering and maintenance.
- Increases assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Ensures all operations employees are trained and certified to operate the process and plant equipment.
- Establishes KPIs and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Budgets, monitors and controls operating expenses; identifies and implements sustainable cost reduction opportunities.
- Conducts performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees.
- Works closely with Production Manager and Supply Chain Management to establish and execute the production schedule; manage inventory cycle counts for finished goods and raw materials and Identify root cause(s) of inaccuracies and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Motivates employees and maintains a positive work environment and attitude.
- Works with Engineering and Maintenance Manager to maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance program and stock of critical spare parts to ensure plant reliability to meet customers’ demand.
- Identifies and drives implementation of site-wide continuous improvement opportunities.
- Works with Production, QC and R&D personnel to improve product consistency and First Pass First Yield.
SAFETY & HOUSEKEEPING
- Develops and maintains a strong safety-first culture
- Ensures Site safety rules and programs are understood and complied with at the NB site.
- Ensures timely reporting of incidents and near misses, a thorough root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective actions to eliminate recurrence
- Audits for unsafe acts and conditions and address deficiencies in a timely manner
- Works with EH&S manager in ensuring all annual safety training is completed as scheduled.
Requirements
Education/Experience
- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 10 -15 years progressive experience in key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility (unit supervisor, plant/site manager)
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance, process and project engineering.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
- Previous experience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement/best practice
- Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
Summary
The Director of Manufacturing directs operations at the New Boson, Texas plant. This motivated individual will direct this site in coordination with the other functional manager to ensure they operate in a safe, environmentally compliant, productive and cost-effective manner in the timely manufacture high-quality products for our customers.
