DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be provided with the opportunity to complete the required 1,000 hours for Pennsylvania’s Administrator-in-training (AIT) under a licensed nursing home administrator while fulfilling your master’s degree fieldwork. You will shadow the leadership team and participate in the core operational areas and activities. Some of the areas you will cycle throughout during your internship include but are not limited to nursing, social services, administration and leadership, dietary, safety and maintenance, and admissions. While rotating through each area, you will learn each area’s functions, processes, and requirements. You will also participate in projects by completing research, proposing ideas and solutions, and presenting final recommendations. Additionally, you will maintain a report of your progress and observations, as well as attend various with management.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship starting May or June 2026 and lasting for 6 months
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work 37.5 hours per week during the length of the internship.
- The work location will be determined from one of the following, based on preference of selected candidate:
- Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, PA (Lebanon County)
- Delaware Valley Veterans' Home in Philadelphia, PA (Philadelphia County)
- Gino J Merli Veterans' Center in Scranton, PA (Lackawanna County)
- Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home in Duncansville, PA (Blair County)
- Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, PA (Erie County)
- Southeastern Veterans' Center in Spring City, PA (Chester County)
- Southwestern Veterans' Center in Pittsburgh, PA (Allegheny County)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:
- The internship will require students to be enrolled in their final year of a master’s degree in nursing home administration, hospital administration, public health administration, or another area including social gerontology with an emphasis in related health facility administration.
