Job Description

Agency Info Security Professional 1 Position Overview:

Are you passionate about protecting digital systems and helping others through your work? OOD is looking for an Agency Information Security Professional 1 to support our mission of empowering Ohioans with disabilities through employment and independence. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that plays an important role in safeguarding the technology that supports our services across the state.

In this role, you’ll help monitor and manage OOD’s enterprise security tools to protect against cyber threats. You’ll work with tools like CrowdStrike and Qualys to detect and respond to suspicious activity, review security logs, and help resolve incidents quickly and professionally. You’ll also consult with the Office of Information Security and Privacy to ensure our systems meet state and federal security standards.

Your work will include testing security safeguards, participating in vulnerability scans, and helping implement solutions to reduce risks. You’ll assist with business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and help maintain secure network and server environments. This position also involves documenting your work and supporting compliance with IT standards and change management processes.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and tools, be comfortable using Microsoft Office and other software, and be able to think critically and communicate clearly. You’ll need to work well with others, handle sensitive information with care, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

If you’re ready to make an impactful contribution to a mission-driven agency and grow your career in information security, we encourage you to apply today.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities is not an E-Verify employer and will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Our roles are primarily in-office to encourage collaboration and connection, however some locations may have adjusted on-site requirements based on space availability at this time. Reporting details will be provided by the supervisor before the start date. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

Applicants can check their application status and all vacancy-related email correspondence on “My Jobpage.” On the Careers.Ohio.Gov job search webpage, once signed in the link to My Jobpage is displayed under the TeamOhio logo. Applicants who require technical assistance (e.g., issues logging in or other system-related issues) should contact careers@ohio.gov.

This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The selection process consists of a remote structured interview. All communications are sent via email. Candidates should make sure their account contains an email address that is checked regularly including checking junk and/or spam.

Background Check

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

Individuals selected for positions with Ohio's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.  Finalists must pass a preliminary check prior to a job offer being made.  A full background investigation will follow.  Further details will be provided during the interview process.
