A DHTS Storage Analyst within Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) is responsible for the operation and care of all storage technologies utilized within the Duke University Health System, including block, file, and object storage services. To achieve this goal, an Analyst II will be required to analyze, design, create and implement solutions involving modern storage systems, including public-cloud enabled services. This person will work closely with other DHTS technical team members, customers and consumers of storage capacity. The incumbent will ensure availability and service delivery for all Duke Health facilities, to include proactive planning and management of all storage environments, capacity planning, incident resolution, and service improvement.
The ideal candidate is experienced in implementing and administering enterprise-grade storage solutions and able to work with customers and team members to design and implement scalable and cost-effective storage solutions. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with various storage capabilities, including block, object, and file storage services. Experience with public cloud providers and experience with Linux and Windows systems is desired.
This position works closely with:
• Duke’s Engineering Team to implement storage solutions consistent with Duke’s strategic direction
• Duke’s Core IT Operations group to ensure that those implementations are operationalized to fit into their support structure
Primary Job Responsibilities
• Gather, analyze, and implement requirements for storage services to implement customer-facing solutions
• Design, build and test storage SAN, Object, and NAS storage solutions, ensuring performance, security, and availability of data within the specified time ranges of the projects
• Provide close collaboration with customers of storage services, providing skilled guidance and solutions to using virtualization and network solutions.
• Provide training/mentoring to other teams on storage technologies to enhance DHTS’ capability to support its services.
• Participate in technical discussions within team as well as with other groups associated with assigned projects, demonstrating subject matter expertise.
• Seek out expertise, knowledge, and resources to develop solutions to problems and work with DHTS cross-functional teams to implement.
• Provide technical support to customers and other technical SMEs utilizing knowledge of storage systems to quickly solve issues.
• Seek out opportunities to automate repetitive functions for consistency and repeatability
• Create and maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to institutional, state and federal policies and regulations.
• Implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke Health security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.

Advancement to this level requires employee, at a minimum, successfully attain the following:
Essential Skills
• Experience with VIPR SRM
• Experience with SEIM and log management tools such as Splunk
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Excellent analytical abilities and innovative problem-solving skills
• Experience with scripting languages Python and source control management systems (SCM), such as GIT, preferred
• Experience with business continuity/orchestration tools such as AppSync and RecoverPoint is preferred
• Experience in Linux and Windows operating systems preferred
• Experience with deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS and Azure is preferred
Preferred Qualifications: Education/Experience
LEVEL 2:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required.
• 3+ years of experience working as a storage analyst or storage engineer
• 3+ years of experience with design, implementation, and/or administration of EMC Isilon, EMC ECS, EMC VNX, EMC VMAX, XtremeIO, and EMC Unity storage systems or equivalent storage systems manufactured by different vendors.
• Experience with Active Directory.
• Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure.
LEVEL 3:
• Include Level 2 Qualifications
• BS degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or a related field, or Five years of equivalent technical experience required, or equivalent experience required.
• Five or more years of systems administration for Cisco UCS, VMWare and/or Nutanix platforms.
• Ability to understand and build upon a Virtual Infrastructure Design along with developing new virtualization solutions.
• Experience managing public cloud services including AWS and/or Azure.
