Accounting Internship

Accounting & Tax Intern — Help Keep the Business Behind the Stories Running
Remote (Utah-based preferred) | Unpaid Internship | 8–12 hrs/week | Flexible Schedule

We tell stories for a living. We need someone who can help us keep the lights on.

Life Legacy Studios creates cinematic documentary-style interviews that preserve who someone really is. Their voice, their laugh, their hard-won wisdom, preserved so their family carries it forward for generations. We've worked with hundreds of families, and we partner with FamilySearch to make this mission as big as possible.

Behind every beautiful film is a real business. And right now, that business needs a sharp, detail-oriented accounting or tax student who wants more than textbook problems.

Here's where you come in.

This isn't a "file papers and make coffee" internship. You'll work directly with the founder on the financial side of a growing creative company, seeing firsthand how a mission-driven small business actually manages its money, handles taxes, and makes smart financial decisions.

You'll get your hands on things like:

  • Bookkeeping and expense tracking, keeping our books clean and our records organized using real accounting tools
  • Tax prep support, helping gather, organize, and prepare documentation for quarterly and annual filings
  • Invoicing and accounts receivable, making sure clients are billed correctly and payments are tracked
  • Financial reporting, helping pull together simple reports that give us a clear picture of where the business stands
  • Process improvement: if you spot a smarter way to do something, we want to hear it

Who you are:

  • You're studying accounting, finance, or a related field, and you want real experience, not just credit hours
  • You're detail-oriented without being rigid. You catch mistakes, but don't freeze when things aren't perfectly textbook
  • You're trustworthy with sensitive information. Financial data is private, and we take that seriously
  • You're self-directed and communicative. You ask questions when you're unsure instead of guessing
  • Bonus if you have familiarity with QuickBooks, Wave, or similar tools. But we'll teach you if you're the right person

What you'll get:

  • Real-world experience, not simulated case studies. Actual books, actual filings, actual business
  • Direct mentorship from the founder on how finances work inside a creative, mission-driven company
  • A strong reference. We don't take referrals lightly. If you do great work, we'll say so loudly
  • A front-row seat to entrepreneurship, the real version of it
  • Flexibility. We care about the work getting done, not when or where you do it

This role isn't for everyone.

If you want a big corporate internship where you shadow someone for a summer and leave with a polo shirt, this isn't it. But if you want to actually matter to a small company and be the person who helps keep the finances tight so we can keep telling the stories that families will carry for a hundred years, then let's talk.

To apply:

Send a short note telling me who you are, where you're at in your accounting or finance program, and one thing you've learned recently that actually surprised you. That tells me more than a GPA ever could.
